Termite attack on door frame can be a horror story for many but unfortunately it is something that can happen frequently. There are 2 routes of action to take in such a case.
- call the pest control company to exterminate the termite than call a door company for the replacement of the door frame or
- Have the door frame replaced first than call the pest control company.
At Singapore Door Repair, we are pretty much fine with both options and the decision is based usually on the pest control company recommandation and the owner urgency.
For example a recent case has door frame that is badly damaged by termites and the home has children below the age of 12 running around. As such the owner was worried for the safety of the kid and wants the door frame replaced first. The pest control company also required a image of the termite and as such we had to remove the frame for the owner to take a video of the termite for the pest control. After which a new frame is put up and the pest control company comes in to ensure that the termite are fully killed off after the work is done. For such cases, as we cannot transport the door frame back to our factory (as we do cannot risk the termites spreading in our van/factory and thus affecting other customer) we would require the owner help in the disposal of the old door frame on the spot.
There are also cases where the termites are taken care off first before a new frame is done.
