One common issue that we encounter almost daily are broken roller on sliding door that leads to balcony (glass with aluminium frame). This is mostly due to wear and tear from constant use.
- A broken roller would usually have the following sign and symptoms:
- lock alignment going out of place as the door has sunk down due to the broken roller
difficulty in opening and closing the door
Solution for such an issue would require a replacement. For such replacement a few factors have to be considered:
Size and type of roller: There are various size and design of rollers. There are also cases where the roller are not available in the market any longer and our technician have to carry out modification work on the door. For a smooth rolling system the exact same type of roller are highly recommended as such we do decline some work due to clients passing us rollers that are totally different from the original.
Removal and reinstallation of door: In most jobs there is an allowance in space for the removal of the door in order to replace the roller at the bottom. Still in some rare cases we do not have such allowance which would require us to dismantle the frame and glass into pieces before commencing the work. After which a re-assembly is required.
Track System: While in most cases, the roller is the issue. There are still some instances whereby the track is what is giving the problem. As the roller roles on a track that is protruding out of the ground, a worn out track would affect the smoothness of the rolling system.
