Rainy Days and Flooding issue affecting current appointment
Just a quick update to our customers due to the heavy rain we are currently expected to face during the coming monsoon season in Singapore.
Due to covid-19, we are having less man power than usual for our work. The rainy weather does make it worst.
We do try to turn up on time for our appointment usually which is why we always give a time slot of 9-11, 11-1,1-3, 3-5 and 5-7 for all appointments so as to factor in unexpected event such as jams, more time needed for repair or even clients of prior appointment being held up by unexpected delay thus affecting later appointment.
However, with the rain, some of our technician that travel on motor bike are now unavailable to attend to appointment and even those on van can get stuck due to water ponding in some areas. As such we would like to be upfront that there might be a delay for appointment schedule.
We apologise for any hassle caused and we do sincerely want to try and keep to the appointed time slot for our clients and will continue to try to as much as we can.
covid 19 updates
Covid 19 updates for the year 2022:
In line with living with covid, our technician will have their booster jabs all done before Feb 2022. As such there will be some disruption in service for the month of January.
As usual, our workers will continue to commute to work on company provided vehicles, wear mask and carry with them their hand sanitizers.
We also do hope that clients would continue to communicate with us with their mask on and at a distance of 1m. We hope to seek your understanding their our jobsites do sometimes involve us dealing with customers of an elderly age as such we are still trying to be as careful as we can.
Once again to a healthy 2022!
Glass Door Hinge Replacement and Repair
Glass door works just like any other doors whereby it has to be secured by a mechanism to a wall. For a sliding glass door, it is usually by clamp which are attached to a roller while for swing glass door the mechanism that is commonly used are called glass door hinges.
As with any mechanical parts, such glass door hinges are prone to wear and tear. The issue is a malfunctioned glass door hinge can bring with it certain amount of risk.
As shown in the image, there are springs within a glass door hinges which can rebound and thus hit the glass causing it to shatter.
Beside that such glass door hinges are commonly used for shower door and also the main door of a commercial unit where traffic is high. As such a damaged hinge can be dangerous.
We do replacement of damaged hinges for both commercial and residential unit as well as alignment of glass door (which happens when the hinges are loose causing the glass to sag down).
For such replacement, the main consideration is the hole that has been pre cut in the door. As shown in the image below, you will notice 2 hole right at the edge of the glass door .
As the hole in the glass door cannot be altered, a hinge with correct measurement is needed to ensure that the glass is held securely to prevent any mishap from happening.
For most replacement, the work can be done within an hour to two, mainly depending on the alignment which has to be redone as both hinges are removed from the door.
A minimum of 2 technician is required to do the work for safety reason as we are dealing with glass which has a risk of shattering.
Upon replacement, the warranty period for the labour is 3 months. However, it is highly unlikely that we would be called back for the next couple of years for another glass door hinge replacement work as such hinges would not malfunction that frequently.
For more information on glass door hinges repair or replacement do give us a call at 6280 4615. Beside glass door hinges, we specialise in various door repair services and are available islandwide in Singapore.
Sliding Door Parts Replacement
Sliding doors as the name implies slides in order for you to open the door. For a door to slide, it is common to use a roller system. There is 2 common sliding door system which can be differentiate base on where the roller is placed. The roller can be placed on the top of the sliding door or what we call a top hung sliding door or it can be at the bottom or what we call a bottom roller system.
Rollers just like car tyres are subjected to wear and tear when used and needs to be changed over time. Whil frequent maintenance of the roller does help, it is inevitable that the bearing would get worn out.
Steps to replacing the Sliding Door roller system:
For both the top hung system and bottom roller system, replacement would usually require the removal of the entire door. After which, a suitable replacement have to been used. Doors unlike most other industries do not have a standard market part. Each door manufacturer will be using their own roller system as such there is a possibility that the roller currently used cannot be found in the market. A minor difference in size can affect the alignment of the entire door thus affecting the smoothness of the sliding door. Just like a bicycle if one is to change the wheels to a completely different size than the original than the riding experience will change.
After replacing the roller, the door will than be fitted back to the track and the final alignment will be done. It is important to do proper alignment to ensure proper closure of the door. Improper alignment will shorten the span of the rollers and may cause damage to your door or even worst cause a person to get stuck behind close door. As such do ensure the sliding door repair technician at your home completes the work by checking both the smoothness as well as the alignment of your door.
Maintenance of Sliding Door Roller
As a home owner, we can reduce the wear and tear of the sliding door by frequently oiling the bearing of the door. You can use greasing agent such as WD 40 which can be purchase of the shelf. However, do not over use the grease as too much would cause the grease to build up and harden thus causing the bearing of the rollers to get jammed.
